Ellie Cottino, La mia Gente is the new video set in Turin
Ellie Cottino, rapper from Turin born in 1998, debuted in 2020 thanks to the Hip Hop single produced by Walter Bonnot, who decided to bet on her after the Contest launched by Bonnot himself on the occasion of his collection “Hip Hop Dopest Joints“. In 2022 her first official album was released with Bonnot Music called Verità Scomode.
Ellie, who has always used her music to talk about society, politics and equality, today releases her single La Mia Gente for KML.
The song, produced by Doc Ketamer (CEO and producer of KML), has a typically hip hop flavor and is accompanied by a video shot in the city of Turin by Faraone (RWA).
Ellie explains: “I wrote this piece taking inspiration both from the people in my life, the members of my crew, and from the youth I met traveling around Italy to play, who endure
despite the economic and social difficulties of our country. With my rhymes, I want to represent -My People-. It is a conscious song, of belonging and with a clear political reference, which wants to send a message of hope in the revenge of young people who grew up in difficult situations.”
To strengthen the concept of the piece, many scenes are filmed in Lingotto, Ellie’s neighborhood, and others in the most iconic areas of Turin.
Doc Ketamer explains: “Artists like Ellie Cottino are exactly the artists worth investing in. She is strong, energetic and with content that you rarely hear from today’s twenty-year-olds. She doesn’t live on social media, but she carries her stuff around, banging herself and getting noticed. It was a pleasure working with her and I hope there will be other opportunities.”
The song, available in the best digital stores, will be part of the artist’s new official album which could see the light in spring 2024.
