Oyoshe and Rome Streetz: Musica sacra

Oyoshe, a popular Neapolitan rapper of the class of ’91, who is currently working on his next official solo album after the success of Iceolator released in 2019 with Dope One, continues his collaboration with Doc Ketamer’s KML -Klan Muzik Lab, which began with the single Stay High feat Lord Digga, proposing the track Musica Sacra together with Rome Streetz, one of the major talents emerging from the new American underground scene, recently in the roster of Griselda Records.

The track is a tribute to Hip Hop and its potential as a form of individual salvation and as therapy on a psychological and social level. Oyoshe, who has always been involved in social projects, including workshops in juvenile prisons and in territories plagued by serious hardship, such as on the Gaza Strip, with Gaza Is Alive 2019 (an international hip hop project aimed at Palestinian children), explains, “Hip Hop and the bad roads are the real protagonists of this piece. In the lyrics emerges the desire for revenge, for escape from crime and poverty “a nuie hip hop has saved us, so sta musica è sacra.” Rome Streetz also has a difficult history behind him and was saved by Hip Hop. In his latest documentary he tells it well. For years he lived as a homeless person away from his family. No one was more perfect for this piece than him.”

Musica Sacra, available digitally in major online stores, boasts production that harks back to the underground style that Griselda Records is bringing back into vogue in the United States. The beat, deep and slow, has a dark mood with jazz and acid jazz overtones, heavy drums and fades into what is called grime rap.

The track is being released accompanied by a youtube video focusing on the cover art work, which is animated.

Oyoshe and Rome Streetz, the collaboration between the two artists becomes video

Months later, during the two artists’ tours, the song managed to materialize in a video clip shot in Amsterdam and directed by Black Diamond Agency.

Regarding the release of the video months later, KML CEO Doc Ketamer explains: “Ideally a song should be released with the video. Coming out more than a year after publication on digital stores is a risky choice which, however, confirms what I have been trying to do for years: give meaning to Hip Hop and international collaborations. With the internet today everything is fast. Everything accessible. Ideally we can collaborate with anyone. But seeing each other is different. Getting to know each other, shaking hands, thinking together is not like deciding things behind a screen. Both artists were on tour. It was a perfect opportunity. I couldn’t let it slip away. Two rappers from two different countries met. A video like this will be part of history. “
