The return of Lord Digga, new name and new album
Lord Digga, rapper from Brooklyn (New York) famous throughout the world for producing numerous Notorious B.I.G. tracks, is also a former member of the historic group Masta Ace Incorporated founded by Masta Ace in 1992.
We heard about him again in Italy a few years ago, when he collaborated on the song Stay High together with the Neapolitan rapper Oyoshe, who recently released Musica Sacra together with Rome Streetz.
The hip hop pioneer from Brooklyn Lord Digga makes a surprise return today, making the rebrand of his name official in Italy.
In fact, under the name Digga Da Highsman he joins Kml for the publication of his new project called Snapped (The Brooklyn Boom Bappery).
Doc Ketamer, founder of the label, explains: “I say this every time we come out with a product or start a new event. Online and ephemeral stuff is not enough. I started working with Digga years ago. We kept this album in the archive for too long. We didn’t release it earlier because we were waiting for the right time. And now is the right time. There’s too much junk around. Snapped is a real punch in the face. A slap at everything that’s around today. It’s not a question of sounds. I also like many things that are happening today. It’s a matter of attitude. This album seems to be made in a different era than ours. Yet, it is modern. It is revolutionary precisely in this. I am honored to have invested in the project.”
The album, produced by Big Ezo, contains eleven tracks with a typically hip hop flavour. The sounds are boom bap, classic, powerful and hark back to the golden age.
On the album there is a real celebration of style and the art of MCing in which rhymes and beats frame an authentic and genuine product. In the album you can hear Digga’s experience, his mastery in leading the battle and his desire to continue to be in the games.
